А теперь поздравляю с присвоением статуса администратора. ;) Ты теперь можешь менять системные сообщения в (Специальные страницы, All system messages - огромный список). Я советую обратить внимание на перевод строчки "edit" (в англ.), "править" (в рус.), "редактировать" в этой вике. Это своего рода концептуальная слово в Википедии (на википедиевских футболках изображён курсор наведённый на "edit"). Это сообщение можно поменять тут: MediaWiki:Editsection (надпись около начала каждого раздела) и MediaWiki:Edit (надпись на закладке сверху). --.:Ajvol:. 20:43, 7 Мар 2005 (UTC)

В прототипе на каталонском сервере мы переводили "баив æй": это довольно удачный перевод, к тому же по буквальном смыслу созвучен с "редактируй это!" -- текст из админского интерфейса Reg][ster'a. --Amikeco 15:35, 8 Мар 2005 (UTC)

Incorrect article count?

I think the article count at Сæйраг фарс is wrong. I counted the articles at Æппæт фæрстæ and got 1125, not 1050. Am I wrong? (Note: Sorry, I only read English.) - dcljr 08:20, 12 Июн 2005 (UTC)

Зачем переводить осетинский алфавит в картинку? Ведь везде работает уникод! Или ты говоришь о таблице с разными алфавитами? Что же до английской статьи — я боюсь, что не достаточно хорошо владею английским. В общем, не хочется мне себя мучить. Будет у кого-то ещё энтузиазм, пусть переведёт русскую статью об осетинском на английский или какой другой. Thanks for you invitation on this wiki, i'd be glad to help you with the interwiki links. The only thing I need is a "bot flag", since I don't want to take too much space on your Recentchanges page. What I can do is go through the pages of your wiki and add links to other languages, when missing, and add links back to os: in the major Wikipedias. Try these translations:

• robot Adding: an, ... --> Робот баххæст кодта: an, ...
• Modifying: tt, ... --> Баивта: tt, ...
• Removing: os, ... --> Аиуварс кодта: os, ...

though I am shy to tell you, we don't have established translation for some widely used terms like Cancel or Delete; there are several ways to say this, and there is no tradition of computer use (on buttons etc.). - Amikeco 12:45, 21 декабры 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedias of the Russian federation

Hi Amikeco,

I'm interested in the development of Wikipedias in the regional languages of the Russian Federation.

So far there are successful or somewhat-successful Wikipedias in Ossetic, Tatar, and Chuvash. The Udmurt Wikipedia was just created and looks to be off to a good start. There have been stirrings at the Abkhaz, Avar, Bashkir, and Komi Wikipedias. The Chechen WP seems to be dead.

Seeing as you seem to speak Ossetic and seem to be involved in academic linguistics, I think it's probably safe to assume that you are better connected as far as regional languages of R.F goes than am I.

It would be great if you knew anybody who could help to get the Abkhaz, Avar, Bashkir, and Komi Wikipedias up and running, and get the Chuvash and Udmurt Wikipedias off the ground.

Once they look to be doing good, it would be wonderful if we had native speakers of other regional languages so that we could get Wikipedias in them... Yakut, Tuvan, Mordvin, Mari, Buriat, Adyghe, Dargwa, Ingush, Kabardian, Kalmyk, Karachay, Karelian, Permyak, Kumyk, Lak, Lezgi... Of course, that's a long list. I think Yakut, Mordvin, Mari, Adyghe, Dargwa, Kabardian, Lezgi are the most widely-spoken. But we can cross that bridge when we come to it.

As you might guess, the active people of the Russian language wikipedias do have some kind of coordination. As for the admins of Chuvash and Udmurt wikipedias, they are my good friends. We are doing our best to move on other wikipedias too: much have been done to advertise the Komi and the Avar wikipedias, more work is planned.

As for the largest languages, you touch an interesting point here. Some languages are widely spoken, but they do not have a steady formal use tradition. Others may be not so widely spread, but they have their own literature, their schools and their interested users on the Net. Sometimes a less spoken language can gain much success at WP: we can see that about the Estonian dialect recently created and some other versions. - Amikeco 12:17, 1 ноября 2005 (UTC)

The Wikimedia Foundation runs a Communications Committee, which co-ordinates requests for interviews from the press. When we receive a request for an interview, often the journalist wants to interview someone that speaks their "native tongue", or someone that lives in the same country as their publication. For this reason, it is important the the Communications Committee keeps an up-to-date log of contributors that they can trust to represent the community in a professional manner.

This list of press contacts has started to grow. The goal is to eventually have at least one trusted user on the list from every country in the world, and one user for every language that the Foundation runs a project in.

What are your responsibilities? Whenever a journalist requests an interview, either by phone, by e-mail, or (rarely) in person, you are able to either answer the interview request, or pass the request off to another user that you trust. Whenever a newsworthy milestone is reached on your project, you should help co-ordinate the creation of a press release, and once it's ready, send it to me to post in your language's press room.
